Organizational Background.
Somalia Fishery Women Association is not a non- governmental organization, political nor is profit seeking organization, our goal to improve the livelihood condition of rural and urban Community in target area through fishing sector in order to improve women’s capacity and also supplying good quality nutrient products to the local and international markets.
Somalia fishery Women association funded in 2016 after several consecutive meeting and discussion between its member’s founders ultimately they concluded with the idea of establishment SOFWA Association to assist and fill and address gabs of the Women’s need in Somalia.

Our vision is to empower and improve the life of Somalia women through fishing and value adding techniques in order to enhance the living-standard and resilience for Somali women.

To create a more resilience, economic stability and Maintain an opportunity for quality oriented fisherwomen through participating in Association that provides processing, marketing and support services which will allow members to maximize the benefits of fishery skills efforts and provide the consumer with the highest quality sea food product.

Founding Statement of the association
The following are the founding priorities:-
Somali women bear unequal and economic hardships occasioned by poverty, conflict and clan-based culture which promote strict male hierarchy and authority; women are either excluded or have less in all levels of life in decision making and market opportunity.
Women’s accesses to public and private markets are too strict and limited over men’s hierarchy and cultural violence to exclude women’s and girls from market opportunity and economic participation freely
